Past Kiwanis International President Wil Blechman of Miami, FL will be speaking at the Kiwanis Club of Arlington’s meeting on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Noon. The Arlington Club meets at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 5115 Little Falls Road in Arlington. While leading Kiwanis International in 1990-91, Dr. Blechman coined the phrase “Young Children/Priority One” that has synthesized the organization’s focus on children from pre-natal to age 5. Dr. Blechman, a noted rheumatologist has been untiring on behalf of young children and will be coming to inspire Capital District leaders and club members to a greater commitment to children.
The Arlington Club serves a great buffet lunch for just $10. Past Governor Warren Kane is coordinating Dr. Blechman’s visit. Please let him know by e-mail, warrenkane@aol.com, or on 703-524-0997 that you are coming so that the Arlington Club can be adequately prepared.
The schedule for the Saturday, January 24th NoVA Regional Midwinter Conference is now available. The event will be held at the Fairfax County Government Center located at 12000 Government Center Parkway in Fairfax VA. The event will take place from 8:15am until 3pm. Registrations postmarked by Saturday, January 10th will only pay $15/person and registrations received after that point or on-site will be at $25/person. Forms are available at this link and should be mailed back to Registration Chair Kristina Dlugozima.

Alexandria - 16th Annual Joint Services Luncheon. The Alexandria Club will host the annual Joint Service Club Luncheon on Thursday, November 20, 2008, at 11:45 am at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 901 N Fairfax St, Alexandria, VA 22314. Annandale Kiwanis recognized Aubrey Chasen with the Legion of Honor for 50 years of service to Kiwanis at their installation dinner this month.
The Alexandria Kiwanis Club will have a program on Membership on October 30 at 12:00pm at their normal meeting location of the Crowne Plaza on 901 N. Fairfax Street in Alexandria, VA. The speakers will be Past Governor Jerry Peuler and J.R. Harris who have collectively recruited over 100 members into the organization. The cost is $21.00.

Tysons Corner - The Kiwanis Club of Tysons Corner and the Kiwanis Club of McLean have come to agreement that the annual Division 20 Sponsored Youth Night will continue. Tysons Corner will now act as host for this event focusing on the Service Leadership Programs of clubs in Division 20. This event will take place on November 13, 2008 at the Hyatt Fair Lakes hotel in Fairfax, VA. The 3-course dinner will cost $30/person. Registration is available online here.
